Self-Care Tip for Gender-Affirming Clothes

I've been daydreaming for a looooong time about going shirtless with just Trans Tape under my denim vest. When this month's Fat Fridays theme was clothing, I knew it was the perfect opportunity to try it out in a space that feels safe to me.

Bree is smiling with their hands in the pockets of their black denim vest. They’re also wearing black denim shorts. Bree is a fat white person with buzzed blonde hair and tattoos on their chest, right arm, belly, and right thigh.

When trying out new-to-me clothes as a fat person, my strategy is always to wear it around the house first, then wear it around the people I feel most comfortable with, before trying it out in public. It’s always worked for me when coming at clothing as a fat person, so I figured why not try it with gender-affirming looks? The gradual exposure and affirmation from people who’s opinions I actually give a fuck about are incredibly helpful when growing my own sense of comfort.

Wanna try out something new-to-you in a space for fat folx only? No matter what the theme is, we’re always here to cheer you on! Find the RSVP link for our next event, which occurs every 4th Friday, right here. I look forward to seeing you! :)
