Lupus Awareness Month: Living Through COVID

It's Lupus Awareness Month! Here is me still wearing a mask every time I leave my house or am around anyone besides my partner and cat, because COVID is still a thing and it can greatly effect me and anyone else who has lupus or is immunocompromised. Wanna know why? Because with lupus, we have an overactive immune system, which means our immune system is so extra that it attacks good stuff too—including vaccines, making them less effective. So, we're less protected and at higher risk if we actually catch COVID.

So, I hope that insight informs those who didn't already know what the fuck's up. I also hope it helps others who are still masking feel less weird and alone about it. (Honestly, it's weird that we're made to feel weird about it.) And of course, solidarity to all my lupus fam out there! 💜
